Avoid the Sandbox
When a new website appears on the Internet, Google will at first not list your website in it's organic search results. This affect is called the Google Sandbox.
It prevents spammers launching sites for short periods of time to con surfers. Google usually takes 3-6 months before it will start listing your pages. During this time period dodgy or illegal sites are normally reported and taken offline.

Buy your domain name early, as soon as you have chosen your keyphrases and your company name.
