Site Submission Abuse

What can I say? Apart from sorry of course. This article is partially wrong.

I could have just edited it but I think it serves as a good example of Google 'Fact and Fiction'. So I have left it intact and added this correction.

Submission DOES NOT affect your ranking. Submit as much as you like because it does not harm, nor improve, your search engine rankings.

So these services are still a con - but not a danger. So if you are tempted then give it a go, it won't do any harm, except to cost you money for no good reason. You have been told! But if you want to anyway, go ahead, contrary to the following item; 

 Have you ever seen the adverts that say things like..

'Let us submit your website to (insert made up number in the thousands) search engines and directories every month for only £x.xx's a month!'.

THESE ARE A CON!

Imagine for a moment that YOU are google. Imagine that every day I rang you up to tell you about my website.

• Day 1: Thank you for your submission - now we can add another site to our search engine.
• Day 2: We already know about you thank you very much
• Day 3: Please don't call again
• Day 4: Please don't call again
• Day 5: If you call again I will remove your listing
• Day 6: We are now going to take you out of our search engine and not take your calls any more.

If you continously submit to Google, your site will be penalised for spamming and eventually could face a complete ban. These services are not only a con, they are BAD for your website.

Submit once and once only. Do it yourself. Take your time. Follow all the instructions in minute detail.

Then find another RELEVANT directory or search engine and submit your web site yourself. Again take your time with the registration and if an unusual question appears (such as 'describe your industry') log off until you have carefully written your response.

DO NOT PAY ANYONE TO LIST YOUR SITE FOR YOU. It takes five minutes - do it yourself.
