A blog is rather like an online diary. Every few days you log in (online, web based, so from any computer in the world!) and write a few lines about what your are up to. It is as simple as that.

Start a blog about your industry and write a new entry at least once a week. Allow your visitors to comment or, better yet, write their own entries. This will create even more content on your site and will keep people coming back regularly to see what is new.

Downsides and difficulties

This is a long haul. Don't expect thousands of readers or comments as soon as you begin. Once your blog has lots of targeted content (approx 6 months) then visitors will start finding you, linking to you and reading your blog.

Writing a blog can also be a pain. It is a constant effort although the rewards can be enourmous. Just write in your natural tone and bear in mind, you are not writing a book, so no drafts and practice posts. Just write from the heart about your target topic and you will soon get into it. Once you do, writing a blog can become a pleasurable and addictive activity.
